The Sad Facts

On this page, you will read about true stories of families who have been destroyed by CPS. I will be listing only those that can be proven. This way, I'm not making false accusations or violating any persons rights.

Vase of Roses

Ricky Letourneau:

Does anyone remember this poor little guy? He was in a foster home here in Maine. One week before he was to be returned to the home of his biological mother, he was brutally beaten, tortured, and killed by his foster mom. This poor boy had scratches all over his genitals, scratches all the way down his back, etc. He was in the bathtub when he died. Supossedly, he hit his head on the faucet during the attack, which caused his death.
Maine claims this does not happen very often. Let me be the first to tell you that this is not true. I was in a foster home and witnessed the type of abuse foster children endure there. I was 15 years old and scared out of my mind! I felt so helpless as I stood by watching things happen. I ran away from this home, not caring if it got me into more trouble or not. my foster mom wanted me to wear a girdle as I was pregnant. She didn't want the shame of having a pregnant teen in her home. I refused. I wanted my child to live, not be injured inside my body. I was also in several other foster homes, but never got to stay in the "decent" homes.

Sara, (out-of-state), and the most recent case here in Maine.
CPS is failing children everywhere!!

Wire Rim Glasses

Sara was brutally beaten by her mother and her mother's boyfriend. Then she was left lying in her backyard bleeding to death. This little girl was only 3 years old and was used as a punching bag. Numerous reports were made to CPS, and this child was treated several times in the emergency room for injuries caused by her mother. Yet the system failed her when they told the grandmother that she had to let the mother take the girls. Luckily, Sara's little sister was not beaten and killed. Why do we let the system do this to innocent children? Either they take children who are not abused or in any danger and they place them in danger, or they let the abused children suffer at the hands of abusive people. It seems that the abused children are never saved! It is time that we make a change in our child protective system. Don't wash your hands of it and say it's not your problem. What if this happened to one of your children? Would you still just stand by and let these injustices happen?

Then there is little Logan Marr. This 5 yr. old girl was duct taped to a high chair in the cellar of her foster home as a form of punishment. The woman who had her worked at DHS here in Maine. Another needless death. CPS workers are suppose to check on these children in foster homes to make sure things are okay. Why aren't these workers doing their job? They say it is because they are overburdened with cases. Simple solution: stop taking children from families when cps can instead provide services to keep these families together. Then they would have more time to focus on the real cases of abuse. Maybe then so many children won't die or be abused in foster care. Maine's children are slipping through the cracks. Too many times, CPS covers up the truth so these horror stories are never exposed. The newspapers will not print articles about DHS unless DHS is willing to comment on their side of the story. This only helps cps keep their dirty little secrets. If they were really working in the " best interest of the children", they would not mind speaking to a reporter about the case.
